A misfuel can interrupt deliveries, callouts or a day’s work. The quickest useful first step is to keep the van switched off and give us the facts: its registration, normal fuel, what was added, whether the ignition was used and where it is parked. Petrol in a diesel van

A diesel van needs the same engine-off response as a diesel car. Petrol contamination can affect fuel-system lubrication if the mixture circulates. Do not top up with diesel or try to finish the next delivery first. Tell us roughly how much petrol went in and whether the van was started or driven.

Diesel in petrol and AdBlue mistakes

Petrol vans can also be misfuelled, including from portable containers. AdBlue in the fuel tank is a separate contamination problem; fuel in the AdBlue reservoir is different again. Tell us which filler was used and what the container or pump label said. AdBlue work needs its own assessment and quote.

Depot, worksite and customer-address visits

We can discuss a visit to a forecourt, depot, workplace car park or another suitable parking area. Provide the full site address, a contact number and any gate, height or access restrictions. Permission to work at the site must be established. Explain if the vehicle is loaded, inaccessible or has a specialist conversion so we can discuss the arrangements.

What the commercial job involves

The technician assesses the vehicle and contamination, then agrees the work and price with the authorised person. Tank layout, quantity and whether the engine ran can affect the scope. The appropriate drain, flush and operational checks are explained before starting. A larger tank or an existing component fault may require more work than a straightforward car drain.

A useful record for the fleet manager

Keep the fuel receipt and arrange for the driver to describe the incident accurately. We provide a written job report for your records. Tell us who can authorise the quotation and any additional work before the visit, especially if the driver and fleet manager are at different locations. Call to discuss requirements for more than one vehicle; do not assume priority response or a fleet-account agreement.
